Fragile UK flag
Sarah made the ´Fragile UK flag’ artwork in 2015 as a reaction to her feeling on the shifting identity of the UK with university education fees tripling that year, alongside announcements of defunding of the NHS and the looming Brexit referendum.
The artwork is an expression of the feelings the artist felt witnessing diminished access to education, health and loss of freedom of movement, trade and much more. The artwork conveys the sense of fragility of a nation in changing times when essential access to Health and Education were started to be eroded. The identity of the UK was not what it once seemed.
